Japanese Spaceship Apartment Building!
Planning laws don’t seem to be particularly strict in Japan. The consequence of this is that you can find some truly original architecture that you’d struggle to find elsewhere in the world.
One building that caught my eye was this fabulous apartment building shaped like a spaceship! I dream of moving to Tokyo and renting an apartment in this building.
Sadly my Japanese reading skills are somewhat limited, so I don’t know anything about the building. There are a couple of commercial properties on the ground floor, but I don’t know what the rest of the building is used as.
If you want to find this magnificent building yourself then it’s quite near Omiya station in Tokyo’s Northern Saitama district. Omiya station is an interchange between several Shinkansen lines and a number of JR East lines including the regular service Keihin-Tohoku line that passes through Shinagawa, Tokyo and Akihabara JR stations. As to the building itself, it’s on the north western side of Omiya station – it’s not too hard to find as the top of the spaceship peeks out from the other buildings in the area.
